Everton financial fair play
Everton have been referred to an independent commission by the Premier League over an alleged breach of financial fair play rules.

Bet the scallies get away with a points deduction

Reading have just been given a 6 point deduction by the EFL for breaking their Business Plan, shame the PL are so sycophantic when it comes to certain Clubs that play n their leagues.

Is the answer Millwall?

Is fining a club for making a massive loss not kind of counter productive?

As I guess demoting them via a points deduction is equally...

The Premier League only care about money coming in. And only worry about money going out.! Everton have a big issue as far the League is concerned. And a big fine is the least of their worries.

If Everton get a points deduction, I will eat my hat!

If Everton do drop out of "Team PL", who will replace them and will whoever it is bring the same (or better) customer pull?

You can bet your arse that if the PL feel Everton have a financially beneficial (to them) USP then the bean-counters will have already decided what the "worst" punishment they can offer that allows Everton to remain in the PL.

If any of the potential promotion teams from the Championship can offer more, then it's bye-bye Everton.

Trouble is, they do have an historical USP - they're the team on the other side of Stanley Park.

Interesting that Reading have had a 6 point deduction by EFL for infringing the agreed business plan to get them back on track. This is after a 6 point deduction in previous season and so does that set the bar for Everton?

I would think the Premier League, will pay bugger all attention, to potential precedents set by the Football League.

Cheers - that’s what I was getting at, technically the last year of the rule breaking is 21/22 so punishment in 22/23 is in theory delayed.

I hate the idea of clubs being penalised for financial stuff, but then I fucking despise Everton so I’m okay with it.

Re: Everton financial fair play
Premier League Financial Fair Play, is a rolling 3 year period, with losses mot allowed to exceed £105 million in total, in those 3 years.

I have seen posts on here, that this has been extended/relaxed because of covid, but I've not seen anything official, for the Premier League. If anybody has anything definitive, I'd appreciate a link.

Everton, have yet to file their 2021/22 accounts (overdue), at Companies House.

So the offence wouldn't relate to any one season, but a 3 year period.

With the previous accounts they've published, they'd have to make a profit of £60 million+ for the 2021/22 season, to not breach FFP, for the 3 years to June 2022 (they have a June financial year end).

Westside - which season end do the charges apply to? 21/22?

In theory then the points deduction would be somewhat delayed.

Re: Everton financial fair play
I stand corrected but in how many cases were the points deducted in the current season? Definitely not for Derby.

Derby's 12 point deduction for going into administration, was applied, as soon as they entered administration., Another 9 points, were deducted for breaching the EFL's Profitability and Sustainability rules, as soon as Derby admitted the charges.

Administration points deductions are upon entering administration, Middlesbrough (not fielding a side) Man United and Arsenal (failing to control their players), all had points deductions, in season, when found guilty. Spurs points deduction for illegal player payments, was applied at the start of a season, as soon as the case was proved (deduction over turned on appeal, of course).

Not too sure, Swiss.

It would be funny if Everton manage to delay it until next season, and actually get done for it then get relegated.

They'd be kicking off in that nice shiny new stadium in the Championship .

Aren't points déductions usually applied the following season ?

Pickle Rick 2:34 Mon Apr 3
Re: Everton financial fair play
seeing as they are in the bottom 3 a points deduction should all but relegate them (hopefully 10 points). We then have to pray that Southampton remain shitter than us and Forest remember their place and take the 3rd bottom slot.
